Artur Olesh join the ICT&Health International team as editor-in-chief. His goal is to translate digital transformation into engagement and action.

Together We Are Shaping Smarter Healthcare

Technologies and innovations are transforming healthcare with an enormous speed. We often hear and read, that digital health innovations are disrupting medicine, reforming the conservative system. I don’t think so. Not technologies itself, but only we all are able to make healthcare resilient, modern and more accessible. Innovations are here to support us, not to disrupt. Let’s bridge ICT&health.

Digital health is not only about single inventions, shiny gadgets, latest trends and buzz words like Artificial Intelligence, Internet of Things, Big Data, health apps, virtual reality or 3D printers. What matters is the holistic transformation of healthcare where the patient is placed in the center of all decisions, strategies and solutions. This is our shared responsibility and everybody has to be on board: patients, doctors, nurses, healthcare managers, politicians, pharmacists, medicine students, start-ups, IT companies, payers, non-profit organizations. We all – public and private sector, civil society, science and academia – create a complex healthcare ecosystem where every single part affects how the whole system works.

Is digitalization a “Holy Grail” for quality and cost effectiveness in healthcare? I would say it’s good to dream big. Clear visions help us to stay motivated and focused. But instead of waiting for miracles, now is the right time to act. On the other hand, the more challenges and changes, the more questions, doubts and fears. That’s why we need a right knowledge – a right key to understand the potential opportunities and minimize threats of the technological revolution.

New editor in Chief

I’m honored to join the ICT&health International team as the editor-in-chief. My goal is to translate digital transformation into engagement and action. Already since 17 years I’ve been working in healthcare, many years as a digital health journalist, researcher, blogger and international correspondent with a focus on ICT and health technologies. Over the next years we will be experiencing changes that we haven’t even dreamt about. That’s why digital health is for me so fascinating and inspiring. It creates new answers for old questions.

ICT&health International presents the wide spectrum of the digital transformation in healthcare in an objective, sharp and understandable way, including different perspectives and opinions. Working for an international magazine with such a great tradition and experience is a big challenge. The mission of ICT&health is to become a reliable and up-to-date source of news and knowledge for all stakeholders, healthcare industry representatives and patients, regardless of the digital health literacy, language or country.
