I am writing this post with two things in mind ; firstly helping you to reflect on your relationship with the digital world and secondly to share some insights about digital health and healthcare, the industry that I love and operate in.

Did you know that 76% of UK adults have a smart phone? ( Source Delloite ).

When it comes to Healthcare, digital solutions offer an incredible promising proposition. Have you heard about the Digital Doctor ? An incredible book that talks about the future of medicine and innovation with a focus on technology and digital approaches. Find a review from Forbes and insights about the book here.

This disruptive industry continues to evolve and is moving so fast that adoption is a challenge to be considered before entering the market or creating new digital health solutions.

Now I am noticing three incredible trends emerging in healthcare innovation :
The first trend is genomics and DNA sequence. This is nothing new, the genomics research industry is very well established, however technology is giving it a new dimension.

Learn more about the CRISPR system, the most promising evolution of genomics research that could lead to tremendous improvements in medicine in the next decade! Read some background about CRISPR here.

The second trend is Data and Digital, I am pretty sure that this is not a new revelation to anyone in healthcare. The challenge is how to implement the digital health solutions in order to meet the requirements of the health specific problems, complying with existent systems and create new innovative solutions.

Big Data analytics is an exciting area, many claim to be advanced in their offering. Although the reality suggests to us that this is a new path, where using data intelligence may take some time to truly fulfil its potential.

The last and third trend is Software and Hardware. Such an exciting time for both hardware and software companies and developers. New wearables technologies are arriving every day, new platforms, new services and aggregate propositions. However healthcare always present additional challenges about marketplace, business models, regulations and market fit (specificity of the product ).

That leads me to ask, Shall your focus be in building both components, hardware and software ?
I hope you enjoyed the reading, feel free to share with your networks.
